Danal said on Thursday its first-quarter consolidated revenue was 54.9 billion won and operating profit was 1.2 billion won. Net profit was 2.4 billion won, swinging to a profit from a year earlier.
It said it maintained a profit base in its existing payments business while expanding major commerce merchants and focusing on technology investment in new businesses such as stablecoin services and a foreigner payment platform.
The company expects revenue and profitability to keep improving through an increase in online and offline payment transactions and the launch of new services within the year.
The prepaid top-up platform Damo-eum is seeing a larger user base after launching an affiliated bank account as an innovative finance service. It plans to add functions such as credit evaluation and remittances to strengthen competitiveness as an integrated financial platform.
On its stablecoin business, it recently completed proofs of concept for commercialisation technology such as top-up, payment, settlement and refunds with major banks. It plans to offer services linked to institutional finance and global companies when related regulatory guidelines are prepared.
The foreigner prepaid card service K.ONDA will push for an official launch after beta service this month. The company plans to target demand from tourists visiting South Korea through packages that combine SIM cards for airport pickup.
A Danal official said, "We will strengthen corporate value and a sustainable business foundation by taking the lead in core markets such as stablecoins and foreigner financial services."
