Tmap Mobility said on May 14 it recorded first-quarter revenue of 62.2 billion won. That was up 4.3 percent from the same period a year earlier. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) improved by 1.7 billion won from a year earlier.

Expanding businesses centred on mobility data and AI led to improvements in the profit structure. The company said the trend of improving profitability around its core businesses is continuing.

The segment that drove results was "mobility data and solutions". The segment grew 22.2 percent from a year earlier. The company cited expanded data collaboration with various industries and more advanced services as the background to the growth.

TMAP AUTO, which is installed in finished vehicles, grew 40 percent from a year earlier. It said the expansion of the imported car market and the in-vehicle infotainment market drove the growth.

The cumulative number of vehicles equipped with TMAP AUTO surpassed 1 million as of February. It rapidly expanded its presence in the finished-vehicle segment.

The API (application programming interface) and data business also rose 15.4 percent from a year earlier on steady demand. In usage-based insurance (UBI), the number of subscribers to the Tmap driving score rider was tallied at 1.21 million. That was up 3.4 percent from a year earlier.

Platform usage metrics also expanded steadily. The company strengthened user convenience features such as a full revamp of the home screen and personalised recommendations for place searches. As a result, Tmap monthly active users (MAU) stood at 15.25 million. That was an increase of 390,000 from a year earlier. AI agent traffic expanded to 5.56 million, up 8 percent from the previous quarter.

Tmap Mobility CEO Lee Jae-hwan (이재환) said, "Profitability improvements centred on our core businesses are continuing based on our growth strategy focused on AI-based data businesses and efforts to improve cost efficiency." He added, "We plan to broaden the foundation for sustainable growth by expanding new businesses that combine AI and mobility data."
