OpenAI is integrating its coding tool Codex into the ChatGPT app so users can remotely manage development workflows on mobile devices, TechCrunch reported on May 14.
The update is currently in preview and is available to users on all plans on iOS and Android.
Users can check, on their smartphones, live environments on any device running Codex. They can work across threads, review results, approve commands, change models or start new tasks.
OpenAI said it was "more than simply remotely controlling a single task or sending a new task to a computer". Last month, OpenAI added a feature that runs Codex in the background in a desktop environment, and earlier this month it also released a Chrome extension that works in a live browser session.
Anthropic in February also launched a "Remote Control" feature that allows users to remotely monitor Claude Code work.
