More than 90 percent of in-house code at U.S. AI company Anthropic is written by AI, and most financial reporting work is also being automated. Business Insider reported on May 13 that Chief Financial Officer Krishna Rao (크리슈나 라오) said on a podcast that office work is shifting away from execution toward oversight, judgement and strategy.

Rao said Claude Code writes more than 90 percent of Anthropic's code. He said Claude is also producing financial statements, and the monthly financial review process is already 90 to 95 percent prepared before people do final review and interpretation. He also said some internal reports that used to take several hours have been cut to 30 minutes.

Rao said the changes have not immediately led to workforce reductions. He described Claude as a productivity accelerator and said the company has instead increased hiring thanks to productivity gains. Even as headcount grows, he said, people can handle more work as they become more familiar with how to use Claude.

Anthropic employees are spending less time gathering information and more time making judgements and decisions based on it. The team is using groups of agents deployed simultaneously across multiple projects, and employees are moving into roles that supervise AI systems rather than handling tasks directly, Rao said.

Rao said companies could expand hiring as AI support lifts employee productivity. He said there is still a lot to do and that routine office work is already changing rapidly. He described the shift as moving toward everyone becoming a kind of manager.
