Kakao is set to significantly improve convenience for its 'AI National Secretary' by adding voice commands and a one-stop booking function.

Kakao said on May 14 it added voice functions to its 'AI National Secretary pilot service (AI National Secretary)' and upgraded it so public facility bookings can be completed within KakaoTalk.

AI National Secretary is a conversational artificial intelligence (AI) agent launched in March through cooperation between Kakao and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. It can be used through the KakaoTalk channel 'National Secretary Gubbi' without installing a separate application. It is implemented based on an in-house AI model and applies the AI guardrail model 'Kanana Safeguard' to secure safety and reliability suitable for public services.

With the update, users can handle electronic certificate issuance and public facility bookings not only by text but also by voice. Intuitive use is possible through voice commands such as "Issue a resident registration certificate" and "Book a tennis court."

Public facility bookings have also become easier. Previously, users had to move to a separate external service, but they can now complete everything from exploring facilities to making reservations in a single KakaoTalk chat window. Kakao also improved accessibility by placing an AI National Secretary icon in KakaoTalk's More tab.

Kakao plans to continue expanding links with public services closely tied to daily life, while developing the service into an intelligent public AI service that proactively suggests services tailored to users' situations.

Yoo Yong-ha (유용하), performance leader at Kakao AI Connect, said, "Even after launch, AI National Secretary has continued upgrades to improve convenience that users can feel." He added, "We will expand the service scope from text to voice, and from guidance to execution, to create an environment where anyone can use public services easily and naturally."
