[Digital Today reporter Chi-gyu Hwang] Google plans to hire hundreds of forward deployed engineers (FDEs) to help support the adoption of its enterprise AI products, The Information reported on May 12 (local time).
Thomas Kurian (토마스 쿠리안), CEO of Google Cloud, said on LinkedIn that an FDE team will be newly established within Google Cloud. He did not disclose the hiring 규모. Matt Renner (맷 레너), Google Cloud's chief revenue officer, said, "We will not just send lots of sales staff, but will approach customers with more technical resources."
The announcement comes as Big Tech companies bolster technical staff to help AI adoption. Earlier, OpenAI launched the OpenAI Deployment Company on May 11 with consulting and investment firms. Anthropic also set up a joint venture with private equity firms to help companies adopt AI.
Google is also in talks with Blackstone, KKR and EQT to provide Google AI models to portfolio companies.
Even as companies large and small announce layoffs citing productivity gains from AI adoption, The Information said Big Tech companies expanding hiring for AI support staff shows companies still face difficulties implementing AI in practice.
Kurian said, "Demand is rising rapidly from customers and partners for Google engineers who help with Google's enterprise AI products and agent development."
