Com2uS Holdings posted a first-quarter loss. It plans to seek a rebound with an offensive of more than 10 new titles.
Com2uS Holdings said in a regulatory filing on Tuesday that it posted consolidated first-quarter revenue of 17.1 billion won and an operating loss of 9.9 billion won. It posted a consolidated loss as valuation losses on affiliates and other factors were reflected, but on a standalone basis focused on its own business it achieved revenue of 12.9 billion won and operating profit of 2.9 billion won, growing more than 50 percent from a year earlier and turning to a profit from the previous quarter.
The company plans to strengthen the fandom of its flagship title "Soul Strike" to sustain long-term popularity and to bolster competitiveness in its game business by rolling out more than 10 new titles through year-end. In the second quarter, it plans to launch the collectible RPG "Star Sailor" in the global market and to introduce the mobile puzzle game "Pawpop Match".
From the second half, it is preparing to expand into major titles and into PC and console platforms. It plans to sequentially launch titles including "Ares", revamped around single-player play, comics-style action RPG "Fading Echo", metroidvania genre title "Fatal Claw", "Zenonia 1: Threads of Memory" and "Lone Chef" in global and Asian markets.
Its subsidiary Com2uS Platform is leading external sales growth in the cloud segment based on customers of its game backend service "Hive". It also plans to support company-wide growth momentum as its artificial intelligence-based business-to-business business, being expanded through broader cooperation with Tencent Cloud, is gaining traction.
Com2uS Holdings said it plans to expand its game business through the launch of new titles in various genres and to strengthen growth momentum by expanding the technology business of its platform subsidiary.
