Publisher SpearIn said on May 12 it has released “How to Get Along With Myself,” a new book by author Cho Min-young (조민영), who wrote “Is My Mind Trivial” and has worked as a literary counseling writing instructor.
The book presents itself as a self-recovery workbook for people who have been unable to care for their own feelings while living amid others’ expectations and attention.
The book starts from records and questions kept over 49 days as Cho got back on her feet after going through a difficult period. The author, who has worked in literary counseling and healing writing, proposes “time to understand myself” for modern people who miss their own feelings while first looking after others’ emotions.
The book is structured as a total 7-week course. It guides readers to look back on their emotions, relationships and patterns in life by following one essay and its questions each day.
It begins in week 1 with “discovering preferences” and moves through “recording traces,” “understanding emotions,” “confirming uniqueness,” “reestablishing relationships” and “restoring life direction,” before leading to the final week 7 stage of “completing my own formula.” Cho said, “I hope this book becomes the kindest greeting for those who live while ignoring their own screams as they read the signals of others’ hearts.”
