[Digital Today reporter Chi-gyu Hwang (황치규)] The European Union is discussing access to OpenAI's GPT-5.5-Cyber cybersecurity model, while Anthropic is not disclosing Mythos to the EU, CNBC reported on May 11, citing the European Commission (EC).
EC spokesman Thomas Regnier (Thomas Regnier) said at a briefing that he welcomed OpenAI's transparency and its intention to provide the EC with access to the new model.
He said talks between OpenAI and the EU have already taken place, and further discussions on model access are scheduled for this week. He said this would allow close monitoring of the model's deployment and address security concerns.
OpenAI last week provided a limited preview of GPT-5.5-Cyber, a variant of its latest AI model, to vetted cybersecurity teams. The move follows Anthropic's limited release of Mythos to some organisations and companies a month earlier.
A month after its launch, Anthropic still does not allow preview access for review by the EU. Regnier said the EU is also discussing access with Anthropic, but is at a "different stage" than it is with OpenAI.
