Mobility platform Whistle said on Thursday it has expanded its partner areas by introducing a parking and stopping enforcement alert service in Tongyeong, South Gyeongsang Province. The service operates so that drivers can receive real-time enforcement alerts from partner local governments after registering vehicle information once. It automatically links whenever a new partner area is added. Drivers who frequently travel between regions can use the service without additional settings because separate applications are not required for each city, county or district.

Tongyeong is a city with a population of about 116,000 and about 55,000 registered vehicles. With its structure concentrating downtown areas and major tourist sites, the city is seen as a region where parking and stopping management is highly important because both daily traffic and tourism demand are high. As visitor inflows continue steadily around major attractions such as Dongpirang Mural Village, Yi Sun-sin Park and Skyline Luge, the service is also expected to help prevent the burden of fines for visiting drivers.

With the service introduction, drivers can receive advance alerts when entering parking and stopping enforcement zones and move their vehicles. Tourists visiting Tongyeong can also receive the same alerts without separate registration thanks to the nationwide common service structure. The service is expected to help prevent fines by providing advance enforcement alerts even in unfamiliar areas and contribute to improving traffic flow. Whistle processed more than 7.6 million advance notices last year.

A Whistle official said, "Tongyeong is a region where daily traffic and tourism demand coexist, and it is an area where the perceived effect of an advance alert-based service is high." The official added, "We will continue to work to create a pleasant traffic environment by cooperating with more local governments."
