SK AX expands AI talent training beyond capital region

SK AX is recruiting until May 13 for the fourth cohort of SKALA, a job-linked practical training programme. SKALA, launched in 2024, runs as a five-month, full-day offline course. A total of 194 trainees from the first and second cohorts have completed the programme, and more than 80 percent of them found jobs at major companies including SK Group, SK AX said.

While the first to third cohorts of SKALA were conducted mainly in the capital region, the fourth cohort starting in July will expand its reach to Gwangju and Ulsan so that young people in other regions can also receive the training. Graduates or expected graduates of domestic and overseas universities, including graduate schools, who can join a company after completing the programme can apply regardless of major. Candidates are selected through document screening, SKCT (in-depth test) and an AI competency interview.

Trainees in the fourth cohort will be trained around AX core technologies such as data analysis and AIOps, cloud native AI and development of generative AI services. They will systematically acquire skills and know-how at a level that can be used immediately at industrial sites. The fourth cohort is planned to be run around projects that solve real business problems in major industries such as semiconductors, energy and telecommunications.

Top trainees will be given job opportunities at SK AX as well as SK Group affiliates, subsidiaries and partner companies.

Kim Min-hwan (김민환), head of HRX promotion at SK AX, said, “SKALA is not simply an education programme. It is a practical growth path that builds the capabilities needed in the AX era and connects to careers.” He added, “Through expanding regional hubs, we will provide opportunities for more young people to grow into AX experts.”
