Shinhan Bank said on Tuesday it signed a business agreement with Incheon on a public-private partnership public delivery app and will operate the Ddaenggyeoyo service.

Shinhan Bank plans to use Ddaenggyeoyo to connect merchants and customers in the Incheon area and improve the environment for using local currency to support the regional economy.

Ddaenggyeoyo is a platform that offers low brokerage fees of around 2 percent, fast settlement and discount benefits.

Under the agreement, Ddaenggyeoyo will add payment functions for Incheon local currency. New merchants joining the platform will be offered up to 200,000 won in support funds. Local-currency-linked promotions and financial products exclusively for small business owners will also be supported.

A launch discount event will also run for one month. Customers who pay with Incheon local currency will receive an immediate 2,000 won discount per order.

A Shinhan Bank official said, "We will expand cooperation with local governments to strengthen benefits that customers and merchants can feel."
