Oobit, a wallet startup that has received investment from Tether, is launching a Visa-backed corporate spending card for AI agents called Agent Cards.
According to a recent report by The Block, Agent Cards are virtual cards designed to let AI bots pay with USDT balances without converting to fiat currency. They can be used at any online merchant that accepts Visa. AI agents can make payments autonomously without handing corporate card credentials directly to AI or requiring human involvement for each approval.
Amlam Adar (암람 아다르), Oobit CEO, said the move is aimed at addressing accountability issues over autonomous payments emerging as agent commerce spreads. Coinbase and OKX have also launched tools that provide AI bots with wallet and payment functions.
Agent Cards also provide corporate control features. One card is issued per agent to limit the scope of impact if damage occurs. Users can set category-based spending limits and per-transaction and per-merchant caps, and there is no path to exceed the limits. All transactions are recorded in an automated spending report along with human-readable reasons, regardless of whether they are approved or rejected. By integrating with payment solutions such as Stripe, AI agents can also manage subscription billing and supplier payments.
Adar said, "Agent Cards are the first step in giving real autonomy to autonomous financial operations while maintaining control," adding, "When e-commerce catches up, agents will operate fully autonomously."
