Meta has acquired humanoid robot startup Assured Robot Intelligence, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on Thursday.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Lerrel Pinto (레렐 핀토) and Xiaolong Wang (샤오롱 왕), who lead Assured Robot Intelligence, will join Meta and focus on optimizing robotics application models.
Meta is shifting its strategy toward AI from a metaverse-focused augmented reality business. Last month it unveiled a new large language model (LLM), Muse Spark, to compete with Google, OpenAI and Anthropic.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has presented a vision to provide "personal superintelligence" to billions of people. Mizuho analysts said in a report this week, "Zuckerberg's vision still lacks specificity, but an agent-centric consumer strategy is increasingly taking shape."
