The U.S. National Security Agency is using Anthropic’s Mythos model to find security vulnerabilities in Microsoft software, Bloomberg News reported on April 30.

The report said one of the NSA’s main missions is to find or exploit security vulnerabilities in computer systems. Microsoft develops the most widely used PC operating system and business applications and has long been a major target for cyberattacks.

Microsoft said it is also using Mythos to find vulnerabilities in its software and patch them more quickly.

Anthropic is sharing an early version of Mythos with the U.S. government and about 40 companies. It is intended to help them find and patch vulnerabilities before hackers do.

Anthropic said Mythos shows strong performance in finding previously undiscovered vulnerabilities. It is not making Mythos publicly available over concerns it could be used for cyberattacks.
