[DigitalToday reporter Lee Ji-young] KB Kookmin Bank has stepped up its 'finance within platforms' model through cooperation with an e-commerce platform.
KB Kookmin Bank said on Wednesday it has launched 'SSG KB Bank' with SSG.com, enabling users to access financial services within the shopping app. Customers can use banking services such as opening an account and signing up for products through SSG.com's 'Bank in Platform' financial section, without moving to a separate app.
The service was 추진됐다 based on an innovative finance service designation after the Financial Services Commission allowed non-financial platforms to advertise and broker financial products.
KB Kookmin Bank also introduced dedicated products reflecting the consumption patterns of platform users. The 'SSG Money KB Account' offers an interest rate of up to 4.0 percent per year before tax on balances of up to 2 million won. It was designed to allow payments and asset management at the same time by linking with a simple payment service. It also provides point accruals when shopping.
The 'SSG KB Shopping Savings' applies preferential rates based on shopping performance and offers rates from 2.0 percent per year to up to 5.0 percent per year before tax.
The bank also prepared separate services for merchants on the platform. Its 'merchant-only financial section' offers the 'KB Boss Parking Account', a demand deposit account that allows free deposits and withdrawals, and savings products. The parking account applies an interest rate of up to 2.5 percent per year before tax on balances up to 10 million won, and the savings products offer rates of up to 6.0 percent per year before tax. It also supports consulting services for small business owners.
To mark the launch, KB Kookmin Bank is holding events for individual customers, including discount coupons and 100-won deals, and is also running a promotion offering benefits worth up to 120,000 won to merchants who change their settlement accounts.
A KB Kookmin Bank official said, "We designed the service so that shopping and finance can be used together within the platform," adding, "We will continue to expand financial services that connect naturally with daily life."
