Tesla reported first-quarter results that beat market expectations despite concerns about slowing electric vehicle demand. Tesla's first-quarter revenue this year was $22.39 billion, up from a year earlier, but expanding large-scale capital spending focused on AI and robotics appears to be increasing financial burdens. With controversy over cash flows added to the mix, balancing growth strategy and profitability has emerged as a key task.

Tesla has officially acknowledged it cannot deliver unsupervised full self-driving (FSD) with existing HW3 (Hardware 3) vehicles, fundamentally shaking the direction of its autonomous driving strategy. At the same time, launch timelines have been pushed back, making hardware transitions and compensation issues key points of contention.
Tesla is also preparing an upgraded successor to its HW4 self-driving computer, dubbed "HW4 Plus". Elon Musk (일론 머스크), Tesla's CEO, said the new chip, called AI4.1 or AI4 Plus, doubles memory capacity compared with the existing version.

Tesla's future mobility strategy is diverging between expectations and delays. While the Roadster launch has been pushed back again and the robotaxi timeline has not been made specific, the broad direction of shifting all models to autonomous driving appears to remain intact.
The build-out of Superchargers dedicated to robotaxis is also becoming more visible, keeping ecosystem preparations moving. Repeated schedule changes have put market trust to the test.

Tesla also appears to be accelerating a shift to robot-focused manufacturing by converting Model S and X lines to produce Optimus. Along with this, the Model S, now in its 14th year, is entering the process of being phased out, and the role of the symbolic model that opened the electric-vehicle era is also passing into history.

Sony Group and Honda have decided to effectively suspend the business of Sony Honda Mobility, their EV development joint venture. The two companies decided to scale back after determining it would be difficult to bring products and services matching the venture's founding purpose to market in a short period.
General Motors (GM) has indefinitely halted its next-generation revamp plan for its large electric pickup and SUV lineup. Plans beyond the current generation for the Chevrolet Silverado EV, GMC Sierra EV, Hummer EV and Cadillac Escalade IQ have effectively become uncertain.

The electric vehicle market is changing rapidly in terms of cost competitiveness and real-world efficiency. With driving-range decline lower than expected, durability concerns are easing, while Britain has also seen a reversal in which EV prices fall below those of internal combustion engine cars. In the United States, demand for EV rental cars has also surged due to the burden of oil prices, accelerating EV adoption centered on economics and practicality.
