LG Uplus said on Tuesday it will support families of firefighters who died in the line of duty with proceeds from sales of '119 Memorial Run' commemorative T-shirts.

The commemorative T-shirt was first unveiled at the 119 Memorial Run event, a memorial marathon for fallen firefighters that LG Uplus held on Nov. 2 last year. LG Uplus decided to sell more shirts reflecting demand from participants and the public at the time.

Customers who want to buy the T-shirt can purchase it through LG Uplus' mobile commerce platform, U+Kok, regardless of their carrier. The price is 33,000 won, with sales limited to 300 shirts. All proceeds will be delivered to the Firefighter Family Hope Sharing Foundation.

LG Uplus has continued to support firefighters through steps including signing a business agreement with the National Fire Agency to strengthen public safety, restoring the voices of fallen firefighters using AI voice synthesis technology, and holding the 119 Memorial Run memorial marathon.

LG Uplus will continue to expand social contribution activities, including holding events and providing welfare, education and memorial support for firefighters in cooperation with the National Fire Agency.

Lee Myung-seop, head of LG Uplus' CSR Innovation Team, said he hopes the memorial T-shirt will help many people remember firefighters' sacrifices in daily life. He said the company will strive to provide practical help to firefighters' families in various ways beyond simple donations.
