[Digital Today reporter Jinju Hong] John Ternus (존 터너스), named as Apple's next chief executive officer, is moving to overhaul the organisation by fully introducing artificial intelligence into internal operations, it has emerged. At an all-hands meeting held right after the leadership change, he also showed strong confidence in the company's product strategy.

On April 21 local time, IT outlet NineToFiveMac reported that Apple held an all-hands meeting for employees the day after announcing the CEO change, with Tim Cook and Ternus appearing together to share the company's direction. At the meeting, Ternus said Apple was "right on the verge of changing the world" and stressed expectations for new products to be unveiled.

The remarks are seen as a message focused more on organisational stability and internal unity than on a specific product launch. They appear to reflect an intent to give employees confidence in the roadmap and keep morale up during a major leadership transition. Internally, there is a mood that the comments took into account new products to be introduced this autumn under Ternus' leadership.

At the same time, changes are being detected in how Apple runs internal operations. Ternus is said to have recently introduced a new in-house AI platform and is preparing to expand AI adoption further. This is seen as an attempt to integrate AI across organisational management and the overall development process, beyond simple product features.

So far, the specific structure and scope of application have not been disclosed. The AI platform was first introduced in the hardware division, and there is talk it could expand companywide. This is seen as an early stage of efforts to reshape internal productivity and decision-making systems around AI, beyond using external AI models.

Ternus' leadership style also aligns with these changes. He has been regarded as making firm decisions that prioritise intuitive judgment over consensus, and the AI rollout is cited as an example of fast execution. In fact, an internal current is also being detected that "AI adoption in the hardware division is only the beginning."

The market is paying attention to Apple's strategy of applying AI to internal efficiency before consumer-facing functions. Apple’s internal use of AI has been largely unknown, but the move is raising the possibility it could link product design, collaboration and decision-making processes.

The key will be results. Ternus is expected to be tested this autumn, when new products are unveiled, on whether the message goes beyond internal encouragement and leads to tangible outcomes. Whether the AI-driven organisational overhaul translates into improved product competitiveness and execution is also being cited as a major point to watch.
