[DigitalToday reporter Yoonseo Lee] Wedding platform Bridebook has rolled out a venue recommendation feature by linking with ChatGPT, but reviews say it has limits in real wedding planning because key information such as available reservation dates and cost accuracy is missing.
On April 18, IT outlet TechRadar reported that after testing the feature, it could reflect conditions such as budget and travel distance but was not at a level to entrust with the final choice.
The feature narrows down candidate venues when users enter a date range, budget, number of guests, travel distance and desired atmosphere. The tester checked the results using conditions including within a 45-minute distance from a church, summer season, meals for 90 people and evening guests of 130 people, a total cost of 20,000 pounds (about 40 million won) or less, and a so-called "princess-like atmosphere". The response presented a list of venues reflecting the main conditions, along with a summary of reasons for the recommendations.
The problem was that information needed to decide on an actual booking was missing. The recommendations were "good enough to 참고" but did not show when each venue was actually available for reservation. Prices were also presented only as ranges, failing to reflect peak-season costs.
Questions were also raised about the accuracy of cost information. The tester said some venue costs differed from quotes obtained by personally checking. It said some information registered on Bridebook had not been updated with the latest data, and explained that some venues do not disclose detailed prices until an on-site visit request is made.
Still, the filtering by conditions worked to some extent. It considered the stated budget and appropriately matched the distance from the church, and some advice appended at the end of the answer was useful. It included a "budget reality check" based on average costs in the area of residence and a suggestion to broaden the search beyond castle-like venues to country houses and garden-style spaces, which could also help.
Even so, the conclusion was clear. ChatGPT's answers were not more useful than scanning the Bridebook website directly or doing a Google search, and the results were more limited than general search.
This assessment ties in with a trend of generative AI expanding into lifestyle search and recommendation. In the wedding industry, couples already use AI in wedding preparations at a rate of 30 percent. The tester also introduced that they previously used Google Gemini to check outfit combinations and were satisfied with the work. But "image combinations" are relatively simple, while venue selection differs because it has many variables such as available dates, actual quotes, capacity and vendor restrictions, making the accuracy of up-to-date data more important.
Ultimately, the Bridebook-ChatGPT linked recommendations may help in the stage of narrowing down initial venue candidates, but remain insufficient in the stage of exploring the data range needed for an actual contract. AI is entering the wedding preparation process, but it was confirmed that, at this stage, it is hard to go beyond being a search aid.
