The Broadcast Media Telecommunications Review Committee said on April 15 it appointed former MBC reporter Song Yohun (송요훈) as its first secretary general, effective April 16.
Song, born in 1961, graduated from Deoksu Commercial High School and Chung-Ang University with a degree in business administration before joining MBC as a newsroom reporter. At MBC, he served as head of the reporters' association and as head of the culture, social affairs and planning investigative reporting desks. He also served as head of investigations at MBC's Normalisation Committee and as head of the broadcasting division (vice president) at Arirang International Broadcasting.
During his time at MBC, Song reported on and produced programmes including "Current Affairs Magazine 2580", "Camera Dispatch" and the Balhae history documentary "Sweepn River, That Sad Thousand Years".
