Parking enforcement alert mobility app Whistle said on Wednesday it has expanded its service area to Ulju county in the city of Ulsan. Whistle users can receive free advance text alerts when their vehicles enter CCTV-monitored no-parking and no-stopping enforcement zones in Ulju county. Existing members can use the service immediately without separate registration, and new users can access integrated alert services across partner regions nationwide, including Ulju county.

Ulju county has tourist attractions including Jinha Beach, Taehwagang Ecological Park and Seosaengpo Waeseong Fortress. In spring, the number of family outing visitors and driving visitors increases, and there are many destinations where parking demand concentrates, such as Eonyang Alps Market and Pony Land. The company said it expects the service expansion to improve driving convenience, reflecting these regional characteristics.

Whistle is an app that sends alerts to vehicles parked or stopped illegally before enforcement so drivers can move their vehicles. Once users sign up, they can receive integrated services across partner regions nationwide. Even if a driver briefly stops in an unfamiliar area or must park, moving the vehicle as soon as an alert arrives can reduce the likelihood of a fine.

The number of parking and stopping enforcement alerts sent through Whistle last year was 7,608,576, up 26.6 percent from a year earlier. Applying a 40,000 won fine for passenger cars to those cases would correspond to about 304.3 billion won in savings, the company said in its analysis. It also said voluntary vehicle movement after alerts is contributing to improved traffic flow.

A Whistle official said Ulju county in the city of Ulsan is an area with abundant natural scenery and tourism resources and sees more visitors during cherry blossom season. The official said the company will continue to expand partner regions to improve driver convenience and help establish a mature parking and stopping culture.
