Woori Financial Future Foundation said on Sunday it signed a business agreement with CJ Logistics and the Miral Welfare Foundation to expand the 'Woori Financial x Goodwill Store' project and support self-reliance for people with developmental disabilities.
The agreement was set up to strengthen the foundation for expanding employment for people with developmental disabilities by advancing collection of donated goods and the logistics system. The three organisations will cooperate on supporting the construction and operation of Goodwill Stores, supporting parcel delivery costs for donated goods, expanding online and offline donation channels, and improving logistics systems.
It plans in particular to improve collection and delivery systems for donated goods by using CJ Logistics' nationwide logistics infrastructure. The plan aims to raise both accessibility for donation participation and efficiency in running the project.
The 'Woori Financial x Goodwill Store' is a social contribution programme launched in December 2023. It is based on a structure that reinvests revenue from sales of donated goods into employing people with developmental disabilities. With logistics capabilities combined through the agreement, the project is expected to be strengthened in scalability and sustainability.
Goodwill Store is a shop in the form of a social enterprise that sells donated goods and employs people with disabilities. About 510 people with disabilities work at 46 stores nationwide.
Woori Financial plans to invest 3 billion won each year and pursue the construction of 100 Goodwill Stores over the next 10 years.
An official at the Woori Financial Future Foundation said, "We expect that this agreement will help expand the foundation for stable self-reliance for people with developmental disabilities along with the spread of a donation culture." The official added, "We will continue cooperation to build a sustainable job ecosystem."
