SSG.com said on Feb. 25 that analysis of purchase data by members of its "Sseuk Seven Club" from Feb. 7 to Feb. 19 showed 93% of members ordered grocery products such as fresh and processed foods.
Sseuk Seven Club is a membership that offers a fixed 7 percent rewards rate on grocery shopping purchases. The company said the 7 percent benefit had a meaningful effect. It plans to speed up member acquisition with a bundled model with the online video service (OTT) TVING set to launch next month.
During the same period, the average basket size for grocery shopping among membership users was about double that of regular users. Spending on processed foods and fresh foods rose 23 percent and 21 percent, respectively, compared with before joining the membership. The repurchase rate was also 27 percentage points higher than that of regular users.
SSG.com plans to expand its membership base by launching a service on March 5 that adds OTT TVING (TVING) content to grocery shopping rewards benefits.
SSG.com is also continuing a promotion through the end of this month for customers who join the membership, offering benefits such as a waiver of the 1-month subscription fee, a 1-month TVING pass and grocery shopping support funds.
An SSG.com official said rewards, delivery and products in Sseuk Seven Club were working together to raise customer satisfaction. The official said subscriber inflows were expected to accelerate further once the bundled TVING OTT model is launched next month.
