Naver Webtoon will exclusively serialize the popular manga "Bocchi the Rock!", which sparked a band boom, as a color scroll webtoon tailored to mobile viewing.
On Feb. 25, Naver Webtoon said it will exclusively offer Aki Hamaji's popular manga "Bocchi the Rock!" in a color scroll webtoon format on Naver Webtoon’s Daily+ and Naver Series.
"Bocchi the Rock!" is a school youth story that depicts the growth of a girl, Hitori Goto, who is awkward in social relationships, through music. The webtoon has proven its popularity, with the Kessoku Band’s full-length album ranking No. 1 on Billboard Japan’s "2023 Year-End Download Albums Chart" after the anime’s success.
The color scroll webtoon being introduced rearranges the original manga layout into a vertical scroll format and remasters all episodes in color. The webtoon can be viewed for free every night at 10 p.m. on Naver Webtoon’s Daily+ and Naver Series.
To mark the release of the color scroll webtoon, Naver Series will run a promotion from Feb. 25 to March 3. During the period, it plans to provide cookie rewards to readers who own the "Bocchi the Rock!" collected volumes.
Youngseok Jung (정영석), comics service leader at Naver Series, said, "I’m happy to present the popular manga 'Bocchi the Rock!', which has received so much love that production of a second season of the anime has been confirmed, as a color scroll webtoon." He added, "As we have prepared an event so readers can enjoy the collected volumes together with the Daily+ serialization, I hope many readers experience the story of Kessoku Band in a new way."
