JoyCity said on Thursday it will officially release the MMORPG "Imjin Waeran: Joseon's Counterattack," developed by Endream affiliate RedZinko Games, on mobile and PC platforms on April 28.
"Imjin Waeran: Joseon's Counterattack" is a new title by director Kim Tae-gon (김태곤), who has released "Imjinrok" and "Gersang." It offers encounter combat in which players combine heroes such as Yi Sun-sin and Kwon Yul with weapons including the hwacha and dae-janggunjeon to face enemies.
Field siege battles unfold on Joseon and Japanese castles in cooperation with members of merchant guilds. Players can use tactics such as destroying gates with dae-janggunjeon and setting ladders on castle walls. In naval combat commanding 3 ships, players operate turtle ships, panokseon, Japan's atakebune and Ming dynasty ships. The economic system runs through hunting and gathering materials to manufacture goods and through an integrated exchange.
JoyCity will run a five-day final test starting on April 13. Anyone can participate without restrictions. It will check whether user feedback collected during the previous alpha test has been reflected and will inspect server stability in a traffic environment.
Kim said, "The Imjin War includes material such as Admiral Yi Sun-sin, turtle ships and the hwacha." He said, "We focused on maintaining a balance between authenticity and fun elements so that the content does not become rigid due to the historical material."
