Dunamu said on Feb. 24 it held a launch ceremony on Feb. 23 for the fourth cohort of its "UPSide Academy" to train young security talent.

UPSide Academy is a Web3 security talent training programme introduced by Dunamu and cybersecurity specialist Theori, the first of its kind in South Korea.

Trainees complete an 18-week programme. It includes an intensive training period to learn and implement the latest security technologies and a project period to carry out practical assignments by combining cybersecurity, Web3 and blockchain technologies.

Dunamu opened UP Space, a dedicated training centre, in Seoul’s Yeoksam-dong to coincide with the launch of the fourth cohort.

Fourth-cohort trainees selected as "Upsiders" in the new space will receive MacBooks, a monthly activity stipend of 1 million won and funding for team projects. They will also have access to a dedicated snack bar and lounge, and benefits including enrolment in safety insurance.

They can also join community programmes and network with alumni.

UPSide Academy is the first among domestic bootcamps and academies to introduce a credit-linked on-site internship tied to 8 major universities in South Korea.

Trainees accepted into the programme can be credited with completing up to 12 credits at their university after finishing the course. A separate on-site training allowance is also paid.

Dunamu Chief Information Security Officer Jaeyong Jeong (정재용) said, "We will spare no support so trainees can establish themselves as core talent at UP Space," adding, "We will continue to nurture practical cybersecurity talent that can respond immediately to a rapidly changing environment."
