KB Financial Group said on Jan. 5 it held a ceremony on Jan. 4 to present its “KB Financial figure skating scholarships” at the “KB Financial Korea Figure Skating Championships (the final selection event for the 2026 national team),” held at Mokdong Ice Rink.
KB Financial has awarded scholarships each year since 2015 by selecting 10 male and female figure skating prospects, aiming to develop South Korean figure skating through support for promising athletes.
Scholarship recipients are selected based on combined results from this year’s “KB Financial Korea Figure Skating Championships” and the “2025-26 KB Financial National Men’s and Women’s Figure Skating Chairman’s Cup Ranking Competition” held last December. The scholarships are to be delivered through the Korea Skating Union.
KB Kookmin Bank, a key affiliate, is also carrying out various activities to foster future generations under the slogan “finance that changes the world.” Through its flagship social contribution programme, “KB Dream Wave 2030,” it supports tailored programmes in learning, career paths and culture so that teenagers can fulfil their potential. It also contributes to broadening participation in grassroots sports by operating the women’s professional basketball team “KB Stars” and a shooting team.
A KB Financial official said, “We hope this scholarship will be a message of hope for figure skating prospects so they can continue their challenge toward their dreams.” The official added, “Going forward, KB Financial will take an active lead in fostering future generations, including young figure skaters, and will continue to support athletes’ challenges and growth toward the world stage.”
