Shinsung E&G has developed a data centre cooling solution applying semiconductor environmental control technology. Shinsung E&G said on Sunday it has developed in-house a modular data centre solution, AIO (All In One), which integrates a cooling system and server infrastructure. AIO vertically integrates a lower cooling system with upper server racks, reducing the costs of separately building a server room, mechanical room and air-conditioning equipment as in conventional data centres.

The company applied a method of installing pre-fabricated modules made at a factory at the site. This shortens the construction period. It said it also secured uniform quality and stability. It supports both an air-cooled configuration and a configuration linked to liquid cooling (DLC). It can be built initially on an air-cooled basis and switched to liquid cooling when heat density rises as high-performance GPU servers expand. It can be expanded by module.

It features a high-airflow, high-static-pressure design that takes account of high-density server environments. It integrated the cooling coil, fans and motors, drainage and filter system, access floor and piping structure into a single system. It minimised air-cooling and DLC piping to cut construction costs and energy loss, and it was designed for both indoor and outdoor use to minimise installation constraints.

As data centres' power density rises due to a recent surge in AI computing demand, a hybrid strategy that combines air cooling and liquid cooling is emerging as an alternative. Shinsung E&G plans to make AIO a key pillar of its new data centre business and focus on expanding demonstration projects and securing references.

Kim Tae-hyung (김태형), head of Shinsung E&G's technology office, said, "AIO is not simply cooling equipment, but a data centre infrastructure platform that integrates cooling and operations monitoring." He said, "We have enhanced it so that it can secure stability and energy efficiency at the same time even in AI and high-performance computing (HPC) environments."
