Cafe24 said on Sunday it has launched a dedicated app, 'Cafe24', on OpenAI's 'Apps in ChatGPT'.

Apps in ChatGPT is an app platform that lets ChatGPT users install the functions they want and use various features while chatting with the AI. It can be used like smartphone users download desired functions from an app marketplace.

Consumers can shop naturally by requesting recommendations in the ChatGPT chat window without needing to move to a website. After installing the Cafe24 app from the ChatGPT app store, users can enter '@cafe24' in the chat window or select Cafe24 functions from the tools menu to use the service immediately.

For example, if a user types "@cafe24, recommend comfortable sneakers under 200,000 won," the AI analyzes product data from shopping malls based on the Cafe24 platform in real time and selects and suggests the most suitable products. Searches can also specify a particular shopping mall.

In that case, the AI provides detailed information needed to make a purchase decision, including product name, brand name, price, key features and popularity. If a user selects a product from the suggested list, it links directly to the order form page along with option details such as color and size, maximizing convenience for purchases.

With the app launch, online businesses on the Cafe24 platform can automatically expose their brands and products in the AI conversational environment without going through a separate application process or incurring additional costs. Product information from Cafe24 client companies is automatically linked to the Cafe24 app.

Online businesses can expect their products to be displayed as AI-selected 'recommended products' and, through this, anticipate effects that lead to actual sales growth. In particular, small merchants or one-person businesses with limited technical experience can be displayed in AI search results on an equal footing with major brands.

The app also enables entry into global markets through an AI function that removes language barriers. When overseas consumers search for products from Cafe24 client companies through the Cafe24 app, ChatGPT's advanced large language model translates product information in real time into the user's language.

Domestic brands can secure global direct-to-consumer sales channels in which they are directly exposed to consumers worldwide without separate localization work or costs to produce multilingual content.

Cafe24 plans to further expand its e-commerce ecosystem by combining AI technology, starting with the app launch. It plans to continuously advance related functions so client companies can build competitiveness in new sales channels in step with an era in which AI search becomes routine.
