Dell Technologies said on March 26 it introduced new security design and cyber resilience features designed to respond more effectively to next-generation cyber threats across protection, detection and recovery.

The update focuses on strengthening device security to address emerging risks from quantum computing and AI, improving resilience after incidents and expanding threat detection coverage to AI data platforms.

The company said an evolving threat environment requires devices designed to respond to future attacks, cyber resilience to minimise incident impact, and advanced detection capabilities across AI data environments. Dell Technologies supports a layered defence strategy across its technology stack from PCs to data centres.

Dell is introducing quantum-ready security features to business PCs to help block attacks that are hard to detect with existing security tools, including threats that remain hidden even after rebooting or reinstalling.

Through the update, Dell is strengthening the embedded controller (EC), a core hardware security component, to support verifying firmware updates with signatures resistant to quantum threats.

Dell's BIOS Verification feature compares BIOS with trusted baselines stored in the Dell cloud to identify tampering. It compares and verifies a backup image on the device with a golden image stored in the Dell cloud. If the results do not match, Dell's verification mechanism recognises the device as abnormal and immediately sends an alert to help security teams quickly investigate and respond.

Dell also strengthened its PowerProtect portfolio to help detect threats such as ransomware earlier and shorten recovery time after incidents.

The updated PowerProtect Data Manager provides guidance reflecting operating conditions through an AI-based assistant when urgent tasks are required, helping speed recovery work.

PowerProtect Data Domain expanded protection coverage to smaller sites and strengthened security for data transmission sections, the company said.

Kyoung-jin Kim (김경진), head of Dell Technologies Korea, said the rise of quantum computing technology and agentic AI could soon usher in an era that neutralises current data encryption and digital signature systems. Dell has been preparing for such changes by investing for nearly 10 years in post-quantum cryptography, cyber resilience and security-by-design, he said, adding that it plans to help customers reduce complexity and respond proactively to future threats.
