Samsung Electronics said on March 26 it has officially launched the PC version of Samsung Browser. It comes about 4 months after the company ran a beta program in South Korea and the United States in October. Users can use Samsung Browser on PCs as well as on mobile devices, and the PC version provides mobile syncing and agentic AI functions.
Data syncing with mobile devices is the core feature of the PC version. Browser data such as bookmarks and browsing history are shared in real time across devices, and users can continue on a PC from the same point on a web page they were viewing on mobile. If users enable the Samsung Pass syncing function, login information and personal data saved on mobile can be used for autofill in the PC browser.
Samsung Electronics incorporated agentic AI functions in collaboration with Perplexity. It processes natural-language commands after understanding the content and context of the web page a user is viewing. For example, if a user types, "Plan a Seoul sightseeing itinerary that includes the places here," in the AI chat window on a page introducing tourist attractions in Seoul, the browser identifies the attractions and suggests a travel plan that considers routes.
It also supports handling video content. Beyond simple search or summarisation, it can find and play specific scenes in videos. It also provides answers by analysing not only web search results but also a user's browser usage history and open tabs.
The PC version is supported on Windows 11 and some Windows 10 versions (1809 or later). The company said the agentic AI functions will start service first in South Korea and the United States and then expand to additional countries sequentially.
