Last month, the number of Daiso Mall users hit an all-time high since the app was launched.
According to application and payment data analysis solution Wiseapp Retail on March 24, the number of users of the Daiso Mall app stood at 5.16 million last month. That was the highest since the app launched, up 42 percent from 3.62 million in the same period a year earlier.
A sample survey of credit and debit card payments showed Daiso's estimated payment amount last month was 469.7 billion won. That was up 16 percent from 403.2 billion won a year earlier. Spending per person also rose. Average payment per person was 20,478 won, up 5 percent from 19,450 won a year earlier. Average payment frequency per person was 2 times, up 0.1 from 1.9 times in the same period a year earlier.
The survey is based on a sample of South Korean smartphone users (Android and iOS). The figures estimate the amount paid for the service using South Koreans' credit and debit cards.
