[Digital Today reporter Chi-kyu Hwang] Meme coin launchpad BONK.fun said it restored its website after it was damaged by a hack and will compensate all victims 110 percent of their losses.

According to an official post-incident report, a hacker carried out a social engineering attack on a domain service provider on March 11. BONK.fun's internal systems, codebase and team accounts were not compromised.

The attack exploited weaknesses at the domain service provider and involved an unauthorized transfer of the domain. BONK.fun said the domain service provider acknowledged responsibility for the transfer.

User losses from the security incident were estimated at about $30,000. BONK.fun pledged to compensate 110 percent of the losses to cover opportunity costs. Control of the main domain has now been restored.
