KT said on March 22 it secured stable service quality at a large concert held on March 21 at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul, even as wireless and OTT traffic more than doubled from a typical weekend.

KT said it expanded network capacity in advance by deploying six mobile base stations and newly building 79 wireless base stations and 14 Wi-Fi units.

On the day of the concert, it used AI-based automatic traffic control solutions W-SDN and AIONET. W-SDN is an AI-based network operations technology that detects signs of base station overload in advance and can automatically control traffic within 1 minute. AIONET monitored Netflix traffic in real time at the router level nationwide and used AI anomaly detection to spot sharp traffic changes early and support pre-emptive responses.

KT said, "Based on network operations experience accumulated in large-scale event environments such as this concert, we are continuously advancing AI-based traffic control technology," adding, "We plan to continue providing a stable network environment."
