Autoscience, a developer of automated AI, has raised $14 million in seed funding led by General Catalyst, Axios reported on March 19 local time.
Toyota Ventures, Perplexity Fund and M13 Ventures also participated in the round.
Autoscience is developing a system in which AI automatically builds other AI models. Axios said it is drawing attention because AI could replace the role of AI engineers.
Elliott Cown (엘리엇 카운), Autoscience's co-founder and CEO, told Axios, "Just as AI systems have surpassed humans in chess and coding, we are building AI systems that outperform humans in developing machine learning models." He added, "We believe AI will ultimately surpass humans in AI model development as well."
Autoscience aims to keep developing specialized models across all research fields, including life sciences.
