Meta has decided not to stop supporting its virtual reality (VR) social network service Horizon Worlds, TechCrunch reported on March 19 local time. Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth (앤드류 보즈워스) said on Instagram, "We decided to keep Horizon Worlds on VR." A Meta spokesperson also confirmed it.

On March 18, Meta announced it would end Horizon Worlds support on Quest VR headsets and leave only the web and mobile versions. It reversed the decision a day later.

Reality Labs, Meta's VR business unit, has posted losses of more than $73 billion since 2021. Quest VR headset sales also fell 16 percent from a year earlier. Apple has also scaled back production of its high-priced Vision Pro headset, with the VR market itself in a downturn.

Against that backdrop, Meta has shifted to a mobile-focused strategy. Bosworth said, "There are more mobile users, and Horizon Worlds is also getting more positive responses on mobile." According to Appfigures, the Horizon Worlds mobile app has recorded 1.5 million downloads so far in 2026, up 53 percent from a year earlier, but consumer spending totaled only $1.1 million.
