Visa Crypto Labs unveiled a command-line interface (CLI) for AI agents, The Block reported on March 18 local time.
The tool Visa unveiled supports developers in running payments directly in a coding environment.
It makes in-program card payments possible without API keys, enabling payments to be made in AI bots, scripts and automated workflows, The Block said.
A CLI is a developer-focused tool operated through text commands without a graphical interface, and Visa plans to use the CLI tool to accelerate integration of AI and payments.
Visa is moving away from its existing API-based payment method and is building an environment in which developers can run payments directly in code.
To that end, Coinbase and Cloudflare are developing the x402 protocol, while Stripe and Tempo are developing a machine payment protocol (MPP). Visa will integrate MPP into its network to support card-based payments.
