Naver said it signed a memorandum of understanding with AMD on March 18 at Naver’s second headquarters, 1784, to expand an AI ecosystem and cooperate on next-generation infrastructure.
Top executives from both companies attended the event, including Naver’s CEO Choi Soo-yeon (최수연) and AMD CEO Lisa Su. Under the agreement, the companies plan to build an ecosystem that links AI technologies across various infrastructure environments and increase technical flexibility.
The two companies will strengthen cooperation on building a high-performance graphics processing unit computing environment optimized for Naver’s large language model HyperCLOVA X. They will jointly advance infrastructure technologies for operating AI models.
Naver has AI full-stack capabilities that connect the entire process with its own technologies, including an in-house large language model, data centres, cloud infrastructure and large-scale user services. Based on this, it will implement and expand AMD’s next-generation infrastructure in real service environments.
Naver and AMD plan to provide AI computing resources to academic researchers and pursue joint research projects to support the creation of AI research outcomes.
Choi said cooperation with AMD would help Naver secure technological diversity and enhance its AI infrastructure competitiveness. She said Naver would broaden the potential use of AMD platforms across Naver Cloud and AI services and continue cooperation on next-generation technology stacks and service implementation.
Su said Naver, with AI capabilities and a cloud platform, was a partner to implement AMD’s next-generation AI GPU technologies. She said she hoped the two companies would build an open AI ecosystem that researchers, companies and developers can trust.
