Dell Technologies said on Feb. 19 it is strengthening its partnership with McLaren Racing and plans to use its AI infrastructure and PC portfolio to boost McLaren's F1 performance.
Dell, McLaren's official innovation technology partner, has supported the team by accelerating car development and performance innovation and strengthening McLaren's competitiveness on the global stage.
Through cooperation with Dell, McLaren is using AI-based solutions across the entire process, including car design, manufacturing and race operations, and is advancing data-driven decision-making.
Cooperation between Dell and McLaren, which began in 2018, has expanded from design and engineering environments to trackside operations and real-time strategy planning. McLaren achieved back-to-back wins in the 2024 and 2025 Formula 1 Constructors’ Championships and also posted results in the 2025 Drivers’ Championship. Dell Technologies solutions supported equipment upgrades during the season and improved how the team collaborates, the company said.
McLaren uses the 'Dell AI Factory', built with Dell PowerEdge servers and HPC solutions, to process about 1.5 terabytes of data during each race weekend, the company said. It runs rapid simulations and digital twins to gain precise insights for strategy planning, from detecting subtle changes in hydraulic systems to responding to real-time track conditions.
To process large volumes of data reliably, McLaren uses storage solutions and services including Dell PowerStore and Dell PowerScale. It scales infrastructure flexibly as needed and runs large-scale data modelling and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) workloads.
Dell PCs are also used to run the McLaren Mastercard F1 team. At the track and in manufacturing plants, and while team members travel to cities around the world, the latest AI PCs handle complex workflows and support engineers and strategy staff in analysing large volumes of data and making decisions.
Alienware gaming systems support McLaren's esports and simulation racing programmes. Drivers and engineers can test scenarios and refine strategy in a digital environment similar to real conditions based on the high-performance platform, the company said.
McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown (잭 브라운) said, "Our partnership with Dell Technologies is built on shared values of innovation and performance," and added, "Dell technology forms the foundation of our team's operations, from car design to race strategy."
Liz Matthews (리즈 매튜스), senior vice president for global brand and creative at Dell Technologies, said, "Cooperation between Dell and McLaren proves the competitive edge created when technology and human capability combine in extreme environments, presenting a blueprint for customers around the world."
