Amazon expects artificial intelligence to help Amazon Web Services (AWS), the world’s largest public cloud service, achieve $600 billion in annual revenue by 2036, SiliconANGLE reported on March 17 local time.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy (앤디 재시) said at a recent internal meeting that AI will accelerate AWS growth and raised the target from $300 billion to double that level. AWS revenue in 2025 was $128.7 billion, up 19 percent from a year earlier, and a 17 percent average annual growth rate would make the $600 billion target possible, SiliconANGLE said.

AWS is Amazon’s core profit engine. It accounts for 17 percent of the company’s total revenue but 70 percent of operating profit.

After a $200 billion investment plan to expand AI infrastructure was announced, Amazon shares have fallen 6 percent this year. Jassy said AI is a major business opportunity and stressed that preemptive investment to expand data centres and servers is essential.
