U.S. cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has integrated its over-the-counter (OTC) trading desk with Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) ICE Chat, enabling institutional investors to directly access cryptocurrency liquidity in global financial markets, Cointelegraph reported on Feb. 17.
ICE Chat is used by 120,000 financial institutions worldwide for real-time trade negotiation and execution. The integration adds the ability to communicate directly with Kraken's OTC desk. Kraken is the first cryptocurrency platform connected to ICE Chat, and Cointelegraph said it expects this to be a major turning point in integrating digital asset trading with traditional financial markets.
ICE announced a project in August last year with blockchain oracle provider Chainlink to bring foreign exchange and precious metals data on chain, and in October it also participated in an investment in the cryptocurrency-based prediction market Polymarket. ICE is also in talks on cooperating with cryptocurrency payments company MoonPay.
