Aave Labs has put forward a proposal to return all revenue generated by the protocol to the Aave DAO.

The Block reported on Feb. 12 that Aave Labs proposed transferring to the DAO treasury all revenue from Aave v3 swap fees and swap fees from a future v4 protocol, as well as revenue from aave.com and all income generated by Aave-branded products such as the Aave Card and an AAVE ETF.

The proposal also includes a plan to establish a new Aave Foundation to manage the Aave trademark and intellectual property. It is seen as an attempt to strengthen the DAO's role within the decentralised finance (DeFi) ecosystem and resolve disputes that have been raised over governance and revenue sharing.

At the heart of the controversy is the size of the operating budget Aave Labs requested. Aave Labs sought $25 million worth of stablecoins, 75,000 AAVE tokens, and additional subsidies for launching specific products.
