[DigitalToday reporter Sangyeop Oh (오상엽)] The KOSPI is slightly higher early on Feb. 13 despite weakness in U.S. stocks, supported by moves dubbed “180,000-won Samsung” and “900,000-won Hynix.”
As of 9:10 a.m., the KOSPI is up 27.68 points, or 0.50 percent, at 5,549.95. It opened at 5,513.71, down 8.56 points, or 0.16 percent, from the previous session, before turning higher.
Retail investors are net buyers of 26.7 billion won, while foreigners and institutions are net sellers of 31.1 billion won and 8.9 billion won, respectively.
Samsung Electronics rose above 180,000 won for the first time, trading at 183,400 won, up 4,800 won, or 2.69 percent, from the previous day. SK Hynix gained 13,000 won, or 1.45 percent, to 901,000 won, returning to “900,000-won Hynix.”
Elsewhere, SK Square rose 7,000 won, or 1.23 percent, and Doosan Enerbility gained 0.52 percent. Hyundai Motor was flat.
LG Energy Solution fell 2.56 percent, while Kia dropped 1.08 percent. Samsung Biologics slipped 0.58 percent and KB Financial Group fell 1.19 percent.
At the same time, the Kosdaq index was down 8.08 points, or 0.72 percent, at 1,117.91 from the previous session.
