Bang Jun-hyuk, chairman of Netmarble and Coway, set 'RE-BIRTH' as this year’s key management keyword and called for fundamental improvements in the companies’ underlying structure. He signalled a push to rebuild thinking and execution from the ground up, beyond simple improvements.
At New Year ceremonies for Netmarble and Coway on the morning of Jan. 2, Bang said sustainable competitiveness requires not only outward growth but also stronger internal capabilities. He urged making this year the group’s first year of qualitative growth.
Bang offered a sober assessment of Netmarble. He said the company achieved outward growth last year to support a rebound but fell short in strengthening its fundamentals. He said 2026 must be a turning point to take a step forward through innovation and structural improvement.
He pointed to the use of artificial intelligence as a key task. Bang said AI should deepen analysis, speed up decision-making and raise productivity across operations. He stressed AI is no longer a choice but a benchmark that will determine gaps in competitiveness.
For Coway, he presented the management theme of a 'new Coway that goes beyond rough waves.' He said it means finding a breakthrough through customer-centred innovation despite an uncertain business environment.
Bang said stronger crisis response and qualitative growth are urgently needed amid intensifying global competition. He urged prioritising customer value innovation and leading the market with competitive products and services that win consumers’ choice.
Bang also mentioned the 'Year of the Red Horse' and stressed execution. He said decisions must lead to action and be proven with results, based on the passion and drive symbolised by the Red Horse. He said he hopes the year will see Netmarble and Coway reborn through genuine innovation.
