MoonPay, a cryptocurrency payments company, has added a Ledger hardware wallet signing function to the command-line interface of its AI agent-only wallet, MoonPay Agent. The move is aimed at addressing security problems around autonomous cryptocurrency trading tools.
According to CoinDesk, the feature lets users directly verify and sign every transaction created by an AI agent on a Ledger hardware device. Private keys do not leave the hardware signing device. MoonPay said the integration makes its command-line interface wallet the first agent-only wallet to support Ledger secure signing via the Ledger Device Management Kit.
Autonomous cryptocurrency agents execute trading strategies, rebalance portfolios and move assets across chains without human involvement. But they have often required users to grant direct access to wallet keys, raising security concerns.
MoonPay CEO Ivan Soto-Wright (이반 소토-라이트) said, "Autonomous agents will come to manage digital assets worth trillions of dollars." He said, "Autonomy without security is reckless. We developed Ledger and MoonPay Agent so agents can execute while people retain control."
