Upbit said on Tuesday it is recruiting participants for the "Senior Online Financial Education Challenge with the Financial Supervisory Service and Upbit! Financial Golden Bell" (Senior Financial Golden Bell).

This year's Senior Financial Golden Bell programme will be held with the Financial Supervisory Service during Global Money Week (GMW), an "International Financial Education Week" hosted by the OECD's International Network on Financial Education (INFE). It focuses on helping seniors build a foundation for economic self-reliance and preventing financial crimes such as voice phishing.

Anyone aged 50 or older can take part in the event.

The first 1,200 confirmed participants will be sent study materials and YouTube lecture links on Feb. 27. Participants will study independently for about 2 weeks from March 3 to 16, covering financial information and investment, pensions, financial fraud prevention, digital assets and financial consumer protection.

The Golden Bell event will be held in 4 sessions from March 17 to 19 via the video conferencing platform Zoom. A total of 300 top scorers will receive Shinsegae gift certificates and coffee vouchers, including 500,000 won for first place, 300,000 won for second and 100,000 won for third.

Dunamu CEO Oh Kyung-seok (오경석) said, "As the digital financial environment changes rapidly, the senior generation is increasingly being left behind and faces growing risks of exposure to financial crimes." He added, "I hope this event, held to coincide with OECD Global Money Week, will become a turning point for seniors to enjoy smart and safe economic lives."
