Private equity firm EQT is reviewing a possible sale of Linux and cloud software company SUSE. Reuters reported on March 10 that if a deal goes ahead, SUSE could be valued at up to $6 billion, or more than 5 billion euros.
But discussions are at an early stage and it is unclear whether a deal will be completed.
EQT has hired investment bank Arma Partners and is sounding out potential options to sell SUSE. Arma Partners is reported to be looking for potential buyers, mainly among private equity firms.
SUSE is estimated to have annual revenue of about $800 million and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation of more than $250 million. Depending on market conditions, the sale price is expected to be in the range of $4 billion to $6 billion.
EQT acquired SUSE in 2018 and later listed it, before taking it private again in 2023. At that time, SUSE was valued at about 2.72 billion euros. A sale at $6 billion would mean its value has almost doubled in a relatively short period.
