[DigitalToday reporter Yeseul Kim] The possibility has been raised that XRP could overtake Ethereum and even surpass Bitcoin.

On Feb. 10 (local time), blockchain media outlet The Crypto Basic reported that the cryptocurrency market hit its lowest level of the year and XRP, Bitcoin and Ethereum all suffered heavy losses, but XRP is maintaining relative strength compared with the two assets.

Market analyst CryptoInsightUK highlighted XRP’s upside potential. "XRP is forming a strong liquidity pool at the current price range, and buying will strengthen around $2.29, $3.60 and $4.20 to $4.40," he said. "Even a small movement of funds in the gold and silver markets could accelerate XRP’s rise," he added.

CryptoInsightUK said a huge inflow of funds into a crypto rally is not necessary. He said prices could rise even if only a small amount of capital moves from gold and silver. He added that gold and silver started rising slightly earlier than cryptocurrencies and the gap remains small, so fast rotation could occur.

The XRP/ETH pair is also showing strength. XRP rebounded against Ethereum after a sharp market drop five days ago and is now trading at 0.0006989 ETH, which suggests XRP could surpass Ethereum over the long term. XRP is also recovering quickly against Bitcoin. The XRP/BTC pair has recently risen to 0.00002072 BTC, and strong buying has been confirmed. "XRP is maintaining strength against Bitcoin," CryptoInsightUK said, adding that this week’s trading volume will determine the future direction.

XRP’s market dominance is also rising. "XRP is trading between 6.127 percent resistance and 3.6 percent support, forming a bullish pattern," CryptoInsightUK said. "XRP could surpass Ethereum in this cycle and challenge Bitcoin in the next bull market," he said. As of Feb. 10, XRP was at $1.43, and it would need to rise 184 percent to $4.07 to surpass Ethereum.
