TVING said on Wednesday it was selected as an “outstanding OTT self-rating classification operator” overseen by the Korea Media Rating Board. It said it was the first domestic operator to be chosen.

The board held an “OTT self-rating classification outstanding operator awards and performance-sharing meeting” the previous day. It announced results after a comprehensive review of 2025 self-rating operations and user-protection activities by 10 domestic and foreign OTT operators. In the awards, which select operators that go beyond legal compliance to take the lead in voluntary use of rating classification and user protection, TVING was the first domestic operator to be named.

TVING said it established a five-step review process from the content planning stage through post-service management. It said it runs rating classification with a detailed checklist based on 7 review factors. It said it built a five-tier rating system that includes a “age 7 rating,” which is not applied to existing films and video products, and applies it consistently across all service areas from VOD to live.

It also strengthened measures to protect minors. Content that exceeds the viewing rating of the profile age set by a user is not shown in listings and is blocked from search. It also strengthened rating labels for content restricted to minors and authentication procedures when entering profiles for those aged 19 and older. It also received high marks for expanding the scope of youth protection by applying its self-rating classification to YouTube content offered on TVING.

TVING said it specifies the person in charge of self-rating classification for each piece of content to clarify accountability. It also said it has established a 100 percent post-monitoring system covering all content.

A TVING official said, "We will continue to strengthen self-regulation and protection systems to create a viewing environment where users can enjoy content with peace of mind."
